Emily High is KCCI's full time Director of Community Engagement. Providing support and resources to the queer and trans community is more than a job for Emily. It is their passion! Their career background includes 15+ years as a youth services librarian. They have also managed a bookstore, planned events, and done curriculum development for preschool through high school levels. They are honored to be in this role at KCCI, which draws on many of their skills and passions, and gives them a chance to make life a little bit better for queer people in KC. Emily loves learning new things, exploring nature, connecting with people, and big picture ideas. They live with their wife Katrina, who is also a professional in the nonprofit sector. They have two adult children who are also part of the LGBTQ+ community. In Emily's free time they read, tend to their house and garden, call up old friends, and hang out with their dogs. They are currently learning ASL and reading about prison abolition.
