John Wingert

He/Him

Secretary

John Wingert (he/him) is the newly elected secretary of KCCI. For almost a year, John has been the Annual Giving and Donor Engagement Specialist at the Kansas City Public Library where he works with individual donors to find meaningful opportunities to support literacy and the variety of indispensable community services facilitated by the library. Most recently, John moved to Kansas City from Texas where he worked as Development Manager for MOVE Texas, a grassroots nonprofit organization building civic and political power for young people, where he wrote and administered grants, recruited and managed staff, and ran fundraising campaigns that helped quadruple the organization’s size over the course of his tenure.

Having grown up in St. Louis and earned his BA in History, International Relations, and Political Science from Drake University in Des Moines, John is glad to return to the Midwest where he is closer to his sister and extended family.

Serving on the Board and enjoying the wonderful programs of KCCI has been an absolute joy for John ever since he first became aware of their programming through the Mimics Society tabletop roleplaying group, which has been a great place to build community as a newcomer to KC. In addition to work with KCCI, John has recently joined the Professional Development Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Kansas City.
